Arjun Rampal lauds the army, calls them 'Gods in uniform'

', where he is playing Lt Col Rai Singh, the Commanding Officer of 2 Grenadiers who played an important role in the 1967 Indo-China clash at Nathu La along the Sikkim border.

The actor is passionate about the army, which came to light during an interview of his with a daily. Citing the recent tragedy caused by floods in Kerala where the army played an active role in rescuing the affected, he called them 'Gods in uniform'. He said that they were selfless people, who are risking their lives for the nation, so it upsets him when people try to malign the army.

He hopes that 'Paltan' does well as the success of the film will encourage other filmmakers to explore the diverse Indian history, which includes the Mughal invasion, the British rule and subsequently, the fight for Independence.

'Paltan' will mark the final part of war films by JP Dutta; the earlier two included 'Border' (1997) and 'LOC Kargil' (2003).
