For Arjun Kapoor, Gurgaon was home for almost a month when he shot for Aurangzeb here two years ago. Returning to the city after a long time, Arjun told us how he discovers a different side of Gurgaon every time he comes here. At a recent interaction in the city, he shared his first impression of the Millennium City, his memories of driving on Gurgaon’s roads and how he hopes to take out time to see the city and not just in the middle of shoots.

We stayed at a hotel here and were out in the city all the time. We shot in and around the city, both new Gurgaon and the Old Gurgaon village areas also. This was two years ago and it was very nice then because the traffic was much less than Delhi and Mumbai. Though I’ve been told that’s not the case anymore. In the film I was driving around a lot in the city. So it was nice for me to drive around this new upcoming city and see all the development with my eyes.”
But despite spending so much time here, Arjun regrets not getting out and exploring Gurgaon as much as he would have wanted to because of his shooting schedule. He said, “As an actor, when you’re working on a film, whatever the location is, you’re more focused on the job at hand. So I really couldn’t take in the sights and sounds of the city much then. That is something I want to do the next time I come here. But yes I do remember that after eight, when the offices would shut down, aisa lagta tha ki chalo sone ka time ho gaya ab. We were away from the residential areas so there wasn’t much activity on the roads. But if you step inside a mall or a bar at that time, then you would see a completely different kind of Gurgaon.”
But Arjun is updated on the progress of the city from his family members who stay here and his short promotional trips to the malls. He said, “I know Gurgaon has grown to become this really international city which has opened so many opportunities for people. I see a new side of Gurgaon every time I come over here. My sister has worked at the Google office in Gurgaon and she tells me how practical the lifestyle is here. You live here and work nearby and have time for a life. So I think it’s important to have places like Gurgaon. It’s good that these offices are coming around and they have a place to make their offices and provide brilliant facilities to their employees.”
