India’s global music icon and winner of two Academy Awards, A R Rahman has dedicated the past four years to perfecting his maiden production venture. And now, the musical maestro will take his ambitious project, 99 Songs, an upcoming musical romance film, to the world.
On October 9, it will premiere at the Busan International Film Festival, and reports say that he will have a live performance for the audience ahead of its premiere.
In order to present to the universe of the Vishwesh Krishnamoorthy-directed venture, Rahman will present a piano recital. Confirming the same, he mentioned that the film’s music is so integral to its story that he felt compelled to introduce it to audiences before the screening.
While talking about his inspiration during an interview with Bombay Times last year, Rahman had said, “Every person’s journey is unique. We go through different ups and downs and discover things that other people don’t. I have experienced so much in life through my journey, so it’s interesting to put it in a movie and present it to people. Over the years, I have seen beauty, struggle, redemption and love. This is what the movie is all about… there are a lot of songs, so I need to plan on releasing them one by one, as I want people to be introduced to the songs much before the release of the film.”
