Oscar-winning music composer, AR Rahman has been facing strong backlash after his remark on “communal” bias in the Hindi film industry. Many criticised him on social media. After maintaining his silence, the ‘Vande Matram’ singer released a statement in a video message on his social media handles. In the video, he shared his thoughts on the ongoing discussion over his comments and cleared the air, insisting that he never meant to hurt anyone.
AR Rahman’s video message
Rahman said, “Dear friends, music has always been my way of connecting, celebrating and honouring a culture.” He added, "India is my inspiration, my teacher, and my home. India is my inspiration, my teacher and my home. I understand that intentions can sometimes be misunderstood. But my purpose has always been to uplift, honour and serve through music. I have never wished to cause pain, and I hope my sincerity is felt."
