Anyone who can lie well can also act well: Anupam Kher

Actor Anupam Kher was recently in the city to stage a one act play based on his life, Kuch Bhi Ho Sakta Hai. TOI caught up with him for a quick chat.
The actor, who was happy to back in the city said, “I hail from a small city and hence love visiting smaller cities. The sheer simplicity of people from such cities is amazing.” The actor visited Aurangabad for his film Laadla in 1994.
Talking about his theatre performance he said, “The thrill of performing before a live audience on stage without any scope for retakes, provides unparalleled excitement.”
During the visit to the city Anupam also unveiled the Marathi version of a recently released English book. Having recently donated 1,11,000 for the Uttarakhand flood victims, the actor said, “It is important to send across help of any sort via credible channels. The media is much smarter nowadays and corruption and discrepancies do not remain hidden for long.”
Speaking on acting as a talent and a subsequent profession he said, “Just as there are no born doctors or engineers, similarly there are no born actors as well. All such professions require training and hard work. I am also a trained actor. An actor has to learn and master how to emote in a particular situation. Signing off with his acting tips to youth from the city he said, “To be successful in any profession one continuously needs to reinvent and I believe that anyone who can lie well can also act well.”
