James Michael Tyler, who played coffee shop manager Gunther on the hit sitcom ‘
Friends
’, passed away at the age of 59. He was battling prostate cancer that he was first diagnosed with in 2018.
On Sunday evening,
Kevin Bright
had shared the news of his demise that left his fans heartbroken. His post read, “James Michael Tyler Our Gunther passed away last night. He was an incredible person who spent his final days helping others. God bless you James, Gunther lives forever.”
On Monday morning, actress
Anushka Sharma also took to
Instagram and to mourn the demise of James. She reposted a post that featured the demise news on her Instagram story. Along with the post, she put a broken heart emoji. It looks like Anushka is also a huge fan of ‘Friends’. Have a look:
The representative of James said in a statement, “The world knew him as Gunther (the seventh 'Friend'), from the hit series Friends, but Michael's loved ones knew him as an actor, musician, cancer-awareness advocate, and loving husband. Michael loved live music, cheering on his Clemson Tigers and would often find himself in fun and unplanned adventures. If you met him once, you made a friend for life.”
On the work front, Anushka was last seen in ‘Zero’ with Shah Rukh Khan and
Katrina Kaif. She is yet to announce her next project.
