Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli moved to London to raise their kids Vamika and Akaay away from limelight, reveals Madhuri Dixit's husband Dr Sriram Nene
For a while now, there’s been a lot of buzz about Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli moving to London. The couple has been spotted several times in the UK, and people close to them have quietly hinted that the move is indeed happening. Now, Madhuri Dixit’s husband, Dr Sriram Nene, has opened up about it in a way that feels very real.
Dr Sriram Nene recalls Anushka Sharma’s candid confession
During a chat with YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia, Dr Nene shared his admiration for Virat, calling him “just a decent human being” they've met multiple times. He also revealed an interesting conversation he had with Anushka Sharma. “They were thinking about moving to London because they can’t enjoy their success (here),” he said, adding that it’s easy to forget how much constant public attention can affect celebrities. “Anything they do attracts attention. We almost become isolated.”
Anushka and Virat want to give Vamika and Akaay a normal upbringing
Dr Nene also talked about how tricky fame can be. While he considers himself outgoing and easygoing, he admitted there are times when constant selfie requests, even though they come from a good place, start to feel intrusive. “But Anushka and Virat are lovely people, and they just want to raise their kids normally,” he said warmly.
Meanwhile, Virat’s childhood coach Rajkumar Sharma also gave a little more confirmation to these reports in an earlier interview. Speaking to Dainik Jagran, he mentioned that Virat is planning to shift to London with Anushka and their two children. Right now, the cricketer is making the most of his family time whenever he’s not busy with matches.
Virat had made a revelation at the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) Innovation lab, ahead of the IPL (Indian Premier League) 2025. He said, “I might not have another Australia tour in me, so I am at peace with whatever happened in the past." When asked about his retirement plans, he said, “I actually don't know what I will be doing post retirement, recently I asked a teammate the same question, and got the same reply. Yeah but may be a lot of travelling.”
He had also stated that he hasn't fully thought out his post-retirement plans, but he and Anushka are enjoying spending time in London with their children, Vamika and Akaay.
Both Virat and Anushka have expressed a desire for more travel in their post-career lives. The couple has been spending time in London, away from the Indian media spotlight, suggesting a preference for a more private life.
On December 11, 2017, actress Anushka Sharma and Indian cricketer Virat Kohli got married in a private ceremony in Tuscany, Italy, at the luxurious Borgo Finocchieto villa. Since their wedding, Anushka and Virat, also known as 'Virushka,' have continued to shine in their careers. They are parents to a daughter, Vamika, born in 2021, and a son, Akaay, born in 2024.
Anushka and Virat’s love story started years ago, leading to their beautiful wedding in Italy in 2017. They are now parents to Vamika, born in 2021, and Akaay, who arrived earlier in 2024. While Virat continues to shine on the cricket field, Anushka has stepped back a little from films, with her last lead role being in 'Zero' back in 2018. Update on 'Chakda Xpress' is also awaited. Her fans really miss her on the big screen; however, whenever they see her cheering for her man in the stands during a match, their level of excitement and contentment reaches new heights.
Anushka is also known for her spiritual side and often visits temples and ashrams with her husband Virat and their daughter Vamika. Earlier, a video of Anushka and Virat attending a kirtan at the ISKCON temple had gone viral, showing the couple participating in devotional singing and chanting. Their spiritual devotion frequently earns admiration from fans.
In addition, Madhuri Dixit is one of India's most iconic and beloved actresses, known for her incredible acting skills, graceful dancing, and charismatic screen presence. She became a superstar in the late 1980s and 1990s with hits like 'Tezaab', 'Dil', 'Hum Aapke Hain Koun..!,' 'Devdas' and many other films. Over the years, she has won numerous awards and remains a timeless figure in Bollywood. Her husband, Dr. Shriram Nene, is a renowned cardiovascular surgeon. He grew up and practiced medicine in the United States before moving to India after marrying Madhuri in 1999. Together, they have two sons and have balanced life between India and the U.S., supporting each other’s careers and ventures.
