Anurag Kashyap plays Rahul Bhat’s father in ‘Daas Dev’

'. Kashyap plays an important part in this spin on the classic 'Devdas' story.

Director Sudhir Mishra revealed, “This is not the first time Anurag has worked with me. I find him very interesting when he’s facing the camera. For this film, I wanted someone from Uttar Pradesh so he could get the nuances of the character. Plus, I also wanted someone who is very charismatic. Anurag’s character is at the beginning of the film and then right at the end. But his presence and impact on the film is such that it feels like he’s part of the film throughout. Truth is he’s just present in two scenes.” The story of 'Daas Dev' is set against a political backdrop in UP.

The film has an ensemble cast featuring actors like Rahul Bhat, Richa Chadha, Aditi Rao Hydari and Satish Kaushik. The filmmaker also revealed that Kashyap is going to play the leading man Rahul Bhat’s father in the film. He says, “He plays Rahul’s father in the film. So one day he just went up to Rahul and said, ‘Maine abhi tumko godh mein uthaya tha.’ A perplexed Rahul Bhat didn’t know how to react, that is when Anurag cleared that he had just lifted the child actor, portraying Rahul’s younger character in the film, in his arms.”

The film also features actor Vineet Kumar Singh who was recently directed by Kashyap in 'Mukkabaaz', which released earlier this year.
