Anuradha Paudwal who switched to devotional music at the peak of her career says that she never felt the pressure from her contemporaries. At a time when Mangeshkar sisters (Lata and Asha) were dominating the playback singing, she never felt under pressure.

"I can't vouch for others but I did not feel any pressure. The two sisters deserve their recognition because of their talent and hard work," she was quoted as saying in The Hindu.

She added, "Early on I perceived the impermanence of popularity. I had seen many talented and hard-working artists suffer due to lack of recognition. I understood that even the greatest of the names were not here to stay permanently."

She also gave Nazia Hassan's example who stormed the music hits with her hits and said, "Everybody had predicted that she will replace the ruling singers but that never happened. Success and popularity are momentary and ephemeral."
