That actor Anupam Kher backed out of the controversial film Gandhi to Hitler is old news.What has come to light now is the fact the noted actor hasn't returned the signing amout, to the tune of Rs 4-5 lakhs as yet."Anupamji backed out of the project last year, but he still hasn't returned the signing amount as yet," said Pallavi Mishra, producer of the film.She further added, "Though he backed out early last year, before the film went on floors, it's been a whole year since he returned the amount," she said.
Kher backed out last year after opposition from the Jewish community and other historians, who did not like the idea of this film. Reportedly, the Jewish community and historians objected to the way the film portrayed the character of Hitler. "The film does not cast anybody in a bad light. Infact, it is based upon two letters exchanged between Gandhi and Hitler," said the producer.
