mumbai: anand bakshi, a lyricist and one of the greatest contributors to indian music, passed away on march 30, 2002. the great man gave music meaning, be it the early releases such as /aradhana, kati patang, or music that catered to the present generation of films like darr, dilwale dulhaniya le jayenge, taal, mohabbatein and yaadein. anand bakshi died at the age of 72.
his funeral was attended by a large number of film personalities such as david dhawan, rajesh khanna, subhash ghai, anu malik, satish kaushik, udit narayan, nitin-mukesh, yash chopra, shashi kapoor, rishi kapoor, gulzaar saab to name a few. and not to forget one of his closest friends subhash ghai. his most recent work was penning the lyrics for nittin keni's gadar for which he was nominated at all award functions. may his soul rest in peace and god give strength to his family and this industry to cope with the great loss.
