The landmark judgement which decriminalised Section 377 of the IPC will now perhaps see many filmmakers dabbling in narratives that revolve around people who belong to the LGBTQIA community. 'Season’s Greetings', a film that pays tribute to filmmaker Rituparno Ghosh, stars Paoli Dam and Lillete Dubey, is all set to be the first film to delve into the matter after the historic judgement. Paoli reveals, “Without revealing much about the plot of the film, I can definitely tell you that this film deals with many issues that were close to Ritu da, and Section 377 is definitely one of them. Sexual preference is a personal matter. I feel that the Supreme Court’s decision to abolish Section 377 is a big relief for LGBTQIA community. And Season’s Greetings will probably be the first Hindi film after this historical judgement that would touch upon the subject.”

Rituparno Ghosh, during his lifetime, never came out of the closet but has played the role of a transgender in Arekti Premer Golpo and gay characters in Memories In March and Chitrangada: The Crowning Wish. Talking about how Rituparno would have reacted to the judgement filmmaker Ram Kamal Mukherjee, who has directed the film adds, “It was an ancient law, and had no meaning or social standing in modern times. I am glad that India decided to grow and accept love as it is. Rituparno would have been the happiest. I guess this is the right time to pay tribute to him because now his soul must be at peace.”
