Singer Arijit Singh has been at the receiving end of criticism ever since the remake of Pakistani song Pasoori from Kartik Aaryan and Kiara Advani's upcoming film SatyaPrem Ki Katha released online. Amid the backlash from fans for ruining the song, an old video of Pakistani singer Ali Sethi, who has sung the original song Pasoori with Shae Gill, has surfaced on the internet.
In the video, Ali can be seen praising Arijit and his soulful voice and how he leaves an impact on his listeners when he sings semi-classical songs. He can also be heard saying that Arijit is the number one singer. For the uninitiated, Pasoori was released as a part of Pakistan’s Coke Studio.
"Arijit Singh is no 1. Main Arijit ke gaane sunta hoonand khaas taur par Laal Ishq, Aayat and Phir Le Aya Dil. Mujhe lagta hai ki ye kaise ho sakta hai ki ek contemporary modern singer jo bilkul ek contemporary andaaz main gaaye like Haan Main Galat, voh jab semi classical andaaz ko chhedhte hai, you don’t feel for a moment that you are missing that shudhta which is required for classical. (I have heard Arijit’s songs specially Laal Ishq, Aayat and Phir Le Aya Dil. I feel stunned by the fact how a contemporary modern singer who has a different way of singing, brings brilliance when he sings a classical song.)” Ali said in an old live video.
The makers of Satyaprem Ki Katha unveiled the recreated song Pasoori Nu on Monday morning. It shows Kartik and Kiara lip-syncing to the lyrics while twinning in white. Tulsi Kumar has crooned the female vocals.
The film marks Kartik and Kiara's second collaboration after the blockbuster Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, which was released in 2022. It will be released in theatres on June 29.
