Amitabh releases book on M F Husain's life

MUMBAI: The English version of famous painter Maqbool Fida Husain's autobiography was released by Amitabh Bachchan at a function here on Monday night.Titled M F Husain where art thou, the English version of the book is penned by noted journalist Khalid Mohammed. The Urdu version was written by the painter himself ten years ago.The book dwells on life and experiences of Husain as a child, painter and human being.One chapter is devoted to actress Madhuri Dixit, with whom he made the film Gaja Gamini. "I have seen a colourful life and the book harps on my life experiences. I know how to paint but I do not know how to put my creativity into writing because I cannot write. But what has been written is reality about what I have seen and experienced. It is not a normal autobiography. It is different. I have talked about places, cities and incidents in a poetic manner", said Husain.Amitabh and his wife, Jaya Bachchan, read out a portions of the book.Managing Director of Indian Hotels R K Krishna, organiser of the event, informed the gathering that Husain had agreed to paint canvasses on the occasion of the centenary of Taj Mahal hotel in Mumbai.
