Amitabh Bachchan to make his Gujarati film debut in 'Fakt Mahilao Mate'
Bollywood Megastar Amitabh Bachchan is all set for a new venture - his Gujarati film debut in the coming Aanand Pandit production titled 'Fakt Mahilao Mate'.
In a social media post, the producer, who worked with Bachchan in 'Chehre', announced their new collaboration saying, "After listening to one line he said he will do it, he will do it for me, he will do it for his belief in me. First time in a Gujarati film!"
Admitting that he was surprised at the actor's decision to come on-board for the film, he said, "One day I walked up to him with the script of my next Gujarati film I was making 'Fakt Mahilao Mate'. I was apprehensive. He is a superstar and what I was offering him is a regional cinema and that also in a cameo."
Relieved that the actor agreed to star in the film, Pandit added that Big B even went ahead to do it for free and refused any remuneration. "I was overwhelmed; Mr Amitabh Bachchan, the star of the Millenium had agreed to perform in Gujarati film just for the bond we share. Although he wouldn't take his fees for this performance, nothing was less important for him. Be it to be on the floor for shooting or be it performing with Gujrati actors; he did everything with immense involvement and interest,
the producer said.
He also revealed that Bachchan was keen to do his own dubbing for the film, despite being offered a dubbing artist to give the Gujarati voiceover. Anand said, "I told him that we will have a voice-over artist for his part as adopting Gujrati language would be troublesome for him, and we would not like to trouble him further."
Much to the producer's surprise, Bachchan said, "Anand Ji humara kaam he to hum hi karenge. Aap humara kaam dekhiye, achha na lage to fir voice over karvaiyega. Apne artist pe bharosa rakhiye, aap ko nirash nahi karenge."
"How humble he could be even at this height of his career, with so many achievements and experience. And not just this, he actually learnt Gujarati accents and finished the dubbing just in 45 minutes. He made sure to avail the maximum Perfection. His urge to learn, his devotion toward work and his humbleness make him what he is today," Pandit concluded.
'Fakt Mahilao Mate' is scheduled to hit the big screen on 19 August. The film will see Amitabh in a cameo alongside Yash Soni and Deeksha Joshi. Directed by Jay Bodas, 'Fakt Mahilao Mate' is touted as a family-centric comedy and will hit the theatres on the occasion of Janmashtami.
Sharing some details about the film, Anand Pandit said, "Fakt Mahilao Mate is a social comedy and addresses issues that every member of the audience and especially all women will identify with. We are bringing forth an important social message without being preachy in a manner that will make people laugh and also think. This film is also very special to me because after 'Chehre,' I am once again working with Amit ji. It was just amazing to see him adapting to the milieu depicted in the story and master the linguistic nuances needed by his character. His ease with Gujarati diction blew me away and his professionalism on sets and in the dubbing studios is of course legendary!"
Big B will also be seen in the upcoming Ranbir Kapoor starter 'Brahmastra' that is slated for a release in September. He is also shooting 'Project K' with Deepika Padukone and Prabhas.
