Amitabh Bachchan shares powerful lines written by Harivansh Rai Bachchan during the 1965 India-Pakistan war: ‘Kayar log hi yuddh mein shatru ko...’
Amitabh Bachchan, who had been silent in the wake of the Pahalgam terror attack that shook the nation, finally voiced his tribute on Sunday morning. Taking to social media, the superstar praised the Indian armed forces for their brave and swift response through Operation Sindoor. And now, the megastar has shared powerful lines written by his late father, poet Harivansh Rai Bachchan, during the 1965 India-Pakistan war.
Bachchan posted a picture of the poem and then followed it up with an explanation, quoting a line from Tulsidas’s Ramcharitmanas that his father had included, “सूर समर करनी करहिं, कहि न जनावहिं आप”
Explaining it, Bachchan wrote, “The heroic brave in battle, they DO their heroism and show.. they do not praise their own bravery and heroism.. they are cowards that seeing the enemy only scream and shout of their bravery."
He added, “Words that have expressed , greater truth than ever .. a poet and his vision far greater than ever .. words of Babuji written around the 1965 war with Pakistan , we won and were victorious , which and for which he received the prestigious Sahitya Academy Award in 1968 .. that is almost 60 years ago .. 60 years ago a vision that still breathes the present circumstances !!"
In his early morning tweet, Bachchan revived his father’s iconic words from the poem Agneepath, which inspired the 1990 cult film of the same name. “Tu na thamega kabhi, tu na mudega kabhi, tu na jhukega kabhi, kar shapath! Agni Path! Agni Path! Agni Path!”
The 82-year-old actor's poetic salute was met with overwhelming appreciation online, with fans calling it “worth the wait” and “a message rooted in dignity.”
