Amitabh Bachchan reveals he is a motorcycle phobic: 'Humari haalat bahut nazuk thi' while filming Muqaddar Ka Sikandar song

In a recent promo for ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati 16’, which he currently hosts, Amitabh Bachchan revealed that he is a motorcycle phobic. Big B revealed that although he is capable of riding one, he is quite nervous about it. The contestant seated in front of the actor immediately brought up his movie ‘Muqaddar Ka Sikandar’, in which Amitabh Bachchan's character made a heroic entrance while riding a bike.


In the promo, the ‘KBC’ host said, “Bhaiya yeh jo bikers hote hain, humko isse badi ghabrahat hoti hai. Humko toh bada darr lagta hai sir. Chala sakte hain… (With bikers, I get very nervous. I am very scared. I can ride but…)” Then the contestant brought up his 1978 movie Muqaddar Ka Sikandar, and Bachchan grinned.


Amitabh Bachchan clarified that because he is an actor, he can perform flawlessly in front of the camera.

“Hum log sab kalakar hain aur ek baar jab camera chal padta hai toh humko apni kala ka pradarshan karna padta hai. Yeh dikhana padta hai ki humko boht achi tarah se chalana aata hai. (We are actors and once the camera starts rolling, we have to act. We have to show that we can do it well.)”


Amitabh then recalled that during the filming of Muqaddar Ka Sikandar, while he was lip-syncing to the opening number, he was truly quite anxious. He shared, “Lekin humari haalat boht nazuk thi hum jab voh kar rahe the. Aur gaana bhi gana tha, aur phatphatiya bhi chalani thi aur hath vath bhi chodna tha. Hath chodna unhone nahi bola tha, humne aise hi masti mein kar dia, toh ho gaya (I was quite nervous while doing it. I had to sing and ride the bike and put my arms up in the air while riding the bike. They didn’t ask me to lift my hands up but I just did it for fun, and it happened).”


A few years back, during John Abraham's visit to the show to promote ‘Satyameva Jayate 2’, Amitabh Bachchan talked about how afraid he was of bikes. John remembered at the time that following the success of ‘Dhoom’, he went to visit the Bachchan family on his new bike. However, before Abhishek could come downstairs to meet John, Amitabh informed him “Abhishek ko encourage mat karna (Don’t encourage Abhishek).” John then burst out laughing and related how Amitabh changed the topic as soon as Abhishek arrived and stated, “Wow, what a bike!”
