Yash Chopra once offered Sridevi the role of Kiran in his film, but she wasn’t keen on it. She even suggested that she'd only take the part if given Shah Rukh Khan's role instead. Chopra later remarked that Sridevi might have overshadowed both male leads, making the role unsuitable for her. The film turned out to be a hit and Juhi Chawla, who replaced Sridevi, found success.
