Amid talks of Kriti Sanon and Kiara Advani for Meena Kumari biopic, Triptii Dimri reveals her wish: ‘Would love to play Meena Kumari or Madhubala in a biopic’
The buzz around the much-talked-about Meena Kumari biopic has intensified, with Kriti Sanon and Kiara Advani emerging as the top contenders to play the iconic actress. While Kriti’s name has been circulating in industry chatter for some time, fresh reports claim that Kiara has also been approached and is close to signing the project.
Triptii Dimri wants to play Meena Kumari or Madhubala
Meanwhile, Triptii Dimri, who will soon be seen in Dhadak 2, revealed her aspirations of portraying legendary stars on screen. At a recent press event, she said, “I would love to do a biopic. I'm a huge fan of Meena Kumari ji and Madhubala ji. If someone makes a biopic on either of them, I would love to be a part of it. They were legends, icons – and portraying them would be an honour.”
‘There’s so much pressure in acting’
Triptii also opened up about the challenges that come with the craft. “Honestly, when you're acting, there's so much pressure in the moment. It’s not like someone else’s face comes into your mind – you're just reacting to your co-actor, your lines, your scene. Still, playing either of them would be such a learning experience,” she added.
Remembering Meena Kumari
Meena Kumari, born Mahjabeen Bano, is widely remembered as Hindi cinema’s 'Tragedy Queen.' Known for her unmatched emotional depth, she delivered powerful performances in classics such as Baiju Bawra, Parineeta, Sahib Bibi Aur Ghulam, Kaajal, and Pakeezah. Her life, marked by immense artistic brilliance and personal struggles, continues to inspire filmmakers and actors alike.
The official biopic on Meena Kumari is currently being developed by filmmaker Sidharth P. Malhotra in association with Saregama, with the support of her husband Kamal Amrohi’s family.
