APJ Abdul Kalam, who himself rose from an underprivileged background and is also the inspiration behind this film, said “The movie made me realise that every person can make changes in other’s lives.”
B-Town’s biggest icon, Amitabh Bachchan, too, was impressed with child actor Harsh Mayar.
Amitabh Bachchan blogged about his meeting with Harsh. “In office meeting up with that little powerhouse Harsh, the star of the film I Am Kalam, produced by The Smile Foundation... he’s a confident, alert and most vocal little fellow... has won the National Award this year as the best child artist and now has travelled in to Mumbai from Delhi to meet me and then, go back... simply admire these qualities of amateurs finding their way into the industry and so savvy with all the required equipment.”
Even Delhi CM Sheila Dixit met the star cast and complimented the team and is considering giving the film a tax-free status
