Alia Bhatt had recently confirmed that she will be teaming up with 'Bareilly Ki Barfi' director Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari for a fun film, describing the filmmaker as a “fabulous director” she said she was really excited as it was going to be her “breakaway film from all the serious ones”.
Now, Mirror has learnt that the 25-year-old actress plays a singer in the film that rolls next year.
A source reveals, “Though a fun film, it will capture her character’s journey and all that she goes through to achieve her dreams of making it big as a singer.”
A family drama, the film has been penned by Ashwiny’s husband, filmmaker
Nitesh Tiwari and screenwriter
Nikhil Mehrotra.
While in real life Alia has lent her voice to songs like 'Samjhavan' in 'Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania', 'Ek Kudi' in 'Udta Punjab' and 'Humsafar' in 'Badrinath Ki Dulhania', this will be the first time that she is playing a singer on screen. She is currently juggling between Ayan Mukerji’s fantasy adventure 'Brahmastra' and Abhishek Varman’s period drama 'Kalank' after which she moves on to Ashwiny’s film.
