Ali Fazal took to his Twitter handle and shared a rare video clip of late
Irrfan Khan from his hit TV show ‘Bharat Ek Khoj’. Talking about Irrfan’s impeccable Urdu pronunciation, Ali went on to heap praises on him for being a perfectionist in almost everything that he did in his career.
Sharing the video with netizens, Ali wrote in Urdu himself, “Yeh dekhein zaroor aap sab.
Tallaffuz barkaraar rakha irrfan bhai ne. Aagey aane waale saalon mein, kabhi nahi dagmagaaye. Haalaki, muddatein nikal gayeen ek aisa scene dekhe ya keeye. Mera vaada hai, our golden years will be back, in all aspects. Shuruaat ho chuki hai. Sabr! (See this. Brother Irrfan continued his pronunciation. He never lost aim over the next few years. It's been ages since I saw or did such a scene. It's my promise that our golden years will be back, in all aspects. It has begun, have patience.)”
The throwback video features Irrfan as the lead character as he discussed the events for freedom struggle with his co-star. He is seen using Urdu to describe his lines from the script and narrated how misunderstandings among Indians about religion which was replaced by communalism during the long struggle for India’s independence.
For the unversed, ‘Bharat Ek Khoj’ was based on Pt Jawaharlal Nehru’s book ‘The Discovery of India’ and was directed by none other than,
Shyam Benegal. Apart from Irrfan, it also starred Om Puri, Roshan Seth, Tom Alter and Sadashiv Amrapurkar among others.
Irrfan Khan breathed his last in April, 2020 after fighting a long battle with a neuroendocrine tumour. He is survived by his wife Sutapa Sikdar and two sons, Babil and Ayan Khan.
