Akshay Kumar unveiled his first look as Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj from Marathi movie ‘Vedat Marathe Veer Daudle Saat’ on Tuesday. Eagle eyed netizens were quick to point out a possible goof up in the teaser.
Sharing a screenshot of Akshay Kumar’s towering look from the movie, a Twitter user observed, “Shivaji Maharaj ruled from 1674 to 1680. Thomas Edison invented light bulb in 1880. This is Akshay Kumar playing Shivaji. #AkshayKumar #ShivajiMaharaj.” Several internet users seem to agree with the same and expressed disappointment over Akshay's casting in the historical drama.
Interestingly, several internet users tweeted in favour of Sharad Kelkar essaying the part. He had played the historic role of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in Ajay Devgn’s ‘Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior’ (2020).
Mahesh Manjrekar helmed ‘Vedat Marathe Veer Daudle Saat’ will narrate the story of seven valiant warriors who fought hard to turn Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s dream of Swarajya into reality. The film will hit the screens around Diwali 2023 and will be released in Marathi, Hindi, Tamil & Telugu. Apart from Akshay, this historical drama also features Jay Dudhane, Utkarsha Shinde, Vishal Nikam, Virat Madke, Hardik Joshi, Satya, Nawab Khan, and Praveen Tarde.
