Akshay Kumar shares a glimpse of Abu Dhabi's first Hindu temple; Calls it a 'historic moment’

On February 14, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the first Hindu temple in Abu Dhabi, which has been constructed by the Bochasanwasi Shri Akshar Purushottam Swaminarayan Sanstha (BAPS). The historic event was attended by celebrities such as Akshay Kumar, Vivek Oberoi and Shankar Mahadevan among others. Later on, Akshay shared a glimpse of the temple on social media, expressing gratitude as he attended the opening ceremony.


Sharing the picture on X, the actor wrote, “Blessed to be a part of the inauguration of the BAPS Swaminarayan temple at Abu Dhabi. What a historic moment!!”

For the grand occasion, Akshay Kumar wore a white and golden kurta. As he made his way towards the inauguration spot, he was accompanied by his security officials.

As per PTI, the BAPS temple has been constructed on a 27-acre plot in Abu Mreikhah, near Al Rahba, along the Dubai-Abu Dhabi Sheikh Zayed Highway. The construction of the temple has incurred a cost of approximately Rs 700 crore.

Grammy-winning artist Shankar Mahadevan also expressed joy about the 'historic moment' and told ANI, “This is an extremely happy moment for India and all Indians all over the world. This is a historic moment in our lives where we are going to witness a Mandir which is so magnificent and spiritual coming on a land like Abu Dhabi. Only our PM Narendra Modi can execute this. I want to thank the entire Swaminarayan family for including me.”
