Akshay Kumar has addressed ongoing speculation around Hera Pheri 3, leaving fans disappointed as he revealed that the much-awaited sequel is currently not in the works.
In a conversation with Shubhankar Mishra, Akshay confirmed that the film isn’t moving forward at the moment.
“As of now, it’s not being made.”
When told that fans believed things had been sorted, he reiterated, “No, no, it hasn’t happened.”
Reacting to the disappointment surrounding the update, the actor admitted he shares the sentiment.
“I’m shocked myself, to be honest.”
‘Maybe something will work out’
There had been reports about filmmakers like Anees Bazmee and
Priyadarshan being involved at different stages, but Akshay hinted that things are still uncertain.
“Maybe something will work out… maybe we need to say a few prayers. But as of now, it’s not happening.”
He also ruled out the possibility of the film going on floors anytime soon. “No, at least not in the next year.”
Addressing speculation that the delay could be due to scheduling or issues between the original trio, Akshay clarified that’s not the case.
“No, it’s not just that. There are many issues.”
He pointed out that he, Paresh Rawal and Suniel Shetty are already working together on another project.
“We are all together in Welcome to the Jungle. Paresh is there, I’m there, and Suniel Shetty is also there. So it’s not about us not coming together.”
Calling Hera Pheri a project close to his heart, Akshay admitted there are behind-the-scenes complications.
“There are some things I can’t talk about on camera—agreements and other issues that keep pushing the project back.”
Legal and production hurdles stall the film
The uncertainty around Hera Pheri 3 also comes amid ongoing legal and production challenges. The film is currently embroiled in disputes over intellectual property rights and casting decisions, which have significantly delayed its progress.
A major lawsuit has reportedly been filed by Seven Arts International in the Madras High Court, claiming that producer Firoz Nadiadwala does not hold the franchise rights. Additionally, there have been internal hiccups, including Paresh Rawal briefly stepping away from the project due to contractual disagreements before eventually returning.
‘I hope it happens before we get too old’
Despite the roadblocks, Akshay remains hopeful that the film will eventually take shape.
“I think it will happen on its own when the time is right. It will sort itself out. I just hope it happens before we get too old.”Get the latest entertainment updates from the Times of India, along with the
