Akshay Kumar and Vidya Balan to shoot a massive Holi song choreographed by Ganesh Acharya for Anees Bazmee's next - Report
The iconic duo that redefined supernatural comedy in 'Bhool Bhulaiyaa' is reportedly set for a vibrant musical reunion. Akshay Kumar and Vidya Balan are slated to film a high-octane Holi anthem for Anees Bazmee’s upcoming untitled project, marking their first major collaboration since 2011’s 'Thank You.'
The project will reunite the duo of actors with Bazmee, following their previous collaboration on ‘Thank You’, and promises a dose of laughter and lighthearted chaos. As per a report by Bollywood Hungama, Bazmee intends to highlight both actors’ distinct comic talents: Akshay’s sharp timing, coupled with Vidya’s playful humour seen earlier in ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa’. Packed with situational comedy and trademark Bazmee-style fun, the film is expected to be a full-fledged entertainer.
During a conversation with Pinkvilla in early 2024, Anees revealed the thought process behind casting Vidya once again. The filmmaker shared, “I always felt that if anyone should play Manjulika, it should be Vidya ji, because she received so much love in that film.” Known for his close and friendly bond with the actress, Bazmee said that Vidya instantly connected with the story. The actress expressed, “Out of all the stories I have heard, there is only one story that I really like." Bazmee recalled being completely drawn in within the first ten minutes of the narration and immediately decided to take up the role.
On the work front, Akshay Kumar will next be seen in the horror-comedy ‘Bhooth Bangla’. Directed by Priyadarshan, the film mixes fun comedy with horror in a style that has worked well in many Hindi films. The story is set in an old, mysterious mansion and follows a group of people who get caught in strange and supernatural events.Get the latest entertainment updates from the Times of India, along with the latest Hindi movies, upcoming Hindi movies in 2026 , and Telugu movies.”

As per a report by Mid-day, Akshay is set to begin shooting a Holi song for an untitled Anees film in the last week of March. The track will be choreographed by Ganesh Acharya, and Vidya Balan will join him for the song. It’s a full-blown Holi sequence, the kind that brings together a lot of colour, dancers, and celebratory energy. The plan is to have around 300-400 background dancers on set, as Akshay and Vidya’s characters lead the celebrations in the gully.
