Akshay Kumar and Amit Rai begin work on ‘OMG 3’ - Here's all you need to know
After the massive success of OMG and OMG 2, actor Akshay Kumar and director Amit Rai have taken the first step towards the third installment of the franchise. The duo has reportedly begun brainstorming sessions for OMG 3 during their recent time together in Kerala.According to Pinkvilla, the scripting work is expected to begin shortly, with plans to take the project on floors in 2026.
On May 17, 2025, Akshay Kumar wrapped up shooting for Priyadarshan’s much-anticipated horror comedy 'Bhooth Bangla,' with the final song sequence filmed over three days in Kerala, co-starring Wamiqa Gabbi.According to the report, director Amit Rai accompanied Akshay during this shoot, and their time together turned into an extended brainstorming session for OMG 3. Reportedly, Amit Rai had multiple story ideas and plot directions in mind, which he extensively discussed with the actor over the weekend.
The two explored various narrative possibilities and fresh perspectives to expand the OMG universe, which is known for its unique blend of satire, courtroom drama, and socially relevant themes.
Script Underway; Casting on Hold
Reportedly, the scripting process for OMG 3 will commence soon, with Akshay now awaiting the first draft from Amit Rai. The makers are taking a cautious approach, fully aware of the expectations surrounding the franchise. "It’s a big responsibility. We’re not rushing. We want to do justice to what the first two films stood for,” a source close to the development shared.
Casting decisions will be made only after the script is finalized. However, like its predecessors, OMG 3 will retain its core courtroom-based narrative infused with humor and social commentary.
Akshay’s Packed Line-Up Continues
Meanwhile, Akshay Kumar is gearing up to begin shooting for Priyadarshan’s upcoming thriller, co-starring Saif Ali Khan, in August. Apart from OMG 3, the actor has several projects in various stages of development, although their details remain tightly guarded for now.
