Bollywood is well represented at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival with actresses sashaying down the red carpet in their best designer couture. Apart from glamorous gowns and extravagant ensembles, Bollywood celebs have often donned the desi look too. From Aishwarya Rai Bachchan decking up in a saree to Vidya Balan’s Cannes debut in six yards of grace – here’s taking a look at Bollywood beauties who walked the Cannes red carpet in a saree.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is the queen of Cannes and has almost always floored the fashion critics with her red carpet appearances. In 2003 the actress went desi with a bright green saree that she paired with a corset blouse. Her style was not exactly hailed by the critics but it was just her second year at the grand film event. Returning to stun, Aishwarya opted for a glamorous sheer gold saree as she walked the red carpet at Cannes in 2010 with husband Abhishek Bachchan.

No one delivers drama like Kangana Ranaut! In 2019, the actress amped up her simple gold kanjeevaram saree with the glamorous embellished corset and elevated the look with royal gloves. While in 2018, Kangana Ranaut rocked a simple black embellished sequin saree. Her glittering look was perfectly punctuated with a matching purse and a statement choker necklace which came with rose-cut diamonds, emeralds and pearls. Kangana Ranaut completed her look with a vintage hairdo and dished out massive nostalgia.

Expectations are always at its peak when it is Sonam Kapoor and the actress rarely disappoints! In 2013, Sonam walked the prestigious Cannes red carpet in a glamorous traditional attire. For the opening ceremony and 'The Great Gatsby' premiere, Sonam decked up in a stunning white lace sari with intricate gold embroidery and paired it with a matching long embroidered jacket. Adding more drama to her OTTD, Sonam rocked a huge pearl nathni.

The actress made several appearances as a jury member, trying to wow in sarees, lehengas and even donning a statement nose ring.
