AI-generated misleading video of Amitabh Bachchan's views on politics goes viral

A video went viral on social media that claimed to be featuring Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan discussing the current political situation in India. However, this video is misleading, as it actually contains an AI-generated voice-over that resembles Bachchan's voice and the statements in the video are not made by the 'Piku' actor.

The video, which has been shared widely, suggests that "Angry Young Man" Amitabh Bachchan has expressed his views on pressing political issues. However, after a thorough investigation, it was revealed that no such video was released by the actor. Searches of his official social media accounts produced no evidence of him making these claims, nor were there any credible news reports confirming his involvement.

The viral footage includes a watermark reading "Appu Patel BJP". A search for this name revealed a profile associated with similar videos, but the specific clip in question was not found on that profile. The way the video was edited, combining clips from various sources with an AI-generated voice, led to suspicion about its authenticity.

As per an NDTV report, the audio was analyzed using AI detection tools. The results indicated substantial manipulation, confirming that the voice heard in the video was likely generated by artificial intelligence. One tool, TrueMedia, found significant evidence of audio alteration, while another tool, Hive Moderation, reported a 99.9% likelihood that the audio was AI-generated.

On the work front, Amitabh Bachchan was last seen in the Tamil action drama film, 'Vettaiyan' co-starring alongside Rajinikanth. The movie also featured Rana Daggubati and Fahadh Faasil in key roles.
