Ahan Shetty opens up about nepotism; privileges and pressures of being Suniel Shetty’s son
Suniel Shetty’s son Ahan Shetty recently spoke out about the ongoing nepotism discussion within the film industry. He acknowledged that being a star child opens doors and provides opportunities, but he also highlighted the pressure that comes with it, as any mistake tends to be scrutinized more severely.
Acknowledging privilege and pressure
In an interview with Lifestyle Asia India, Ahan stated that he will never deny where he comes from; being his father’s son gives him access and opportunities. However, this also means that expectations are higher and every stumble is magnified. He acknowledged that every success of his reflects on the name his father has built, and every failure carries extra weight. He tries to use both as motivation to work harder and prove that he is not just in the industry because of his last name.
Viewing legacy as guidance, not burden
Talking about the respect attached to his father’s legacy, he mentioned that he doesn’t see it as a burden. He has learned to stop taking that pressure and instead views it as guidance. He believes his father’s past is something he can learn from, rather than something that weighs him down.
Bollywood debut with ‘Tadap’
Ahan entered Bollywood with his debut in ‘Tadap’ (2021), starring alongside Tara Sutaria. The film was directed by Milan Luthria and produced by Sajid Nadiadwala.
Upcoming projects: ‘Border 2’ and horror film
On the work front, he is now preparing for his upcoming film, the patriotic drama ‘Border 2,’ set to release in theaters on January 22, 2026. Directed by Anurag Singh, the movie features a star-studded cast including Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, and Diljit Dosanjh. It is a sequel to JP Dutta’s 1997 hit ‘Border.’ Additionally, Ahan has reportedly signed up for an Indian horror film written by Patrick Graham, known for creating the Netflix series ‘Ghoul’ and ‘Betaal.’
