Shehnaaz Gill, whose latest comedy film ‘Thank You For Coming’ has received critical acclaim, has expressed her ambitions to build a diverse and varied filmography. Despite being a prominent figure in Punjabi cinema, her rise to national fame came only after her participation in the 13th season of the reality show, Bigg Boss, back in 2019. Finally, her Bollywood debut came with Salman Khan's ‘Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan’.

At the age of 29, Gill has noticed that filmmakers often approach her for roles that mirror her actual persona. She voiced her concerns about this recurring pattern, stating, "It seems the industry perceives me in a specific mold. There's a general inclination to project my real-life image on screen, such as portraying me as an attractive internet sensation. I yearn for something more diverse and unique in my roles."


She further expressed her desires in a recent interview, stating, "I wish filmmakers would venture out of the norm and depict me differently. I'm prepared to engage in workshops and truly immerse myself in a role. My skills are versatile, and I urge the industry to give me a chance to showcase this diversity."

The actress believes in evolving her methodology as an actress. She emphasizes the significance of improvisation, suggesting that actors shouldn't merely memorize scripts. Instead, she believes in understanding the essence of the character, participating in workshops, and then delivering the role. "I'm keen on refining my skills and critically evaluating scripts," she commented.

In ‘Thank You For Coming’, the narrative revolves around Kanika Kapoor, portrayed by Bhumi Pednekar. Kanika, a woman in her thirties, is on a journey to discover genuine love and happiness. This contemporary comedy, directed by Karan Boolani and written by Radhika Anand and Prashasti Singh, offers much more than just laughs.

Highlighting the film's significance, Shehnaaz Gill stressed the essential message it carries concerning sex education. She said, "The story resonated with me. I'm a firm believer in the importance of sex education, and when I encountered this script, I was instantly captivated by its distinctiveness." She concluded by underscoring the importance of the topic, reiterating, "Sex education is undeniably vital."
