Ever since the trailer was released, it has been appreciated for its authentic portrayal of India’s small towns. Though the film is set in Uttarakhand, the problem of faulty electricity meters and inflated bills is relevant across India. Just like sanitation, Shree Narayan Singh felt that it was important to address the electricity issue, as it hasn’t been showcased on screen before.

The film is inspired by real-life events and the director has interacted with people who have faced these problems. The concept was given by Vipul K Rawal, after which Singh did extensive research to do justice to the story.

Apart from Shahid and Shraddha, the film also stars Yami Gautam and Divyenndu Sharma. It revolves around three friends, who believe in living life to the fullest. The dialect used by the characters has struck a chord with the audience and so has the music.

'Batti Gul Meter Chalu', produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, Nitin Chandrachud and Nishant Pitti under the banner of T- Series and Krti Pictures, releases on September 21.
