Any certified movie buff will agree that
Sanjay Dutt and Madhuri Dixit-Nene’s chemistry, back in the 1990s, was a rage. The actor duo teamed up for nine films in the decade, virtually making it one film a year together. They first shared screen space in 1988 in the film 'Khatron Ke Khiladi' and their last outing together was Mahanta in 1997. While there are some forgettable titles in that list, Madhuri and Sanjay’s screen chemistry in 'Khalnayak', 'Saajan' and 'Thanedaar' is hugely appreciated even today.
The audience has waited with bated breath for the duo to team up again. And, it’s taken the actors 22 years to zero in on a project that interested them both. Finally, on Tuesday, they will share the platform for their 10th film together, 'Kalank', in which they have been paired opposite each other. The event will be a curtain-raiser for one of the year’s most anticipated films. While the entire cast of the film will be present at the event, the highlight will of course be Sanjay and Madhuri.
Over the last few years, since Madhuri and Sanjay returned to the big screen in their individual spaces, there has been plenty of conjecture about the jodi teaming up for a film. It took
Karan Johar,
Abhishek Varman and a dramatic period film about Partition to get their nod. While Sanjay plays an intense character (Balraj Chaudhary), Madhuri reportedly plays a courtesan and his ladylove. The actors will be seen promoting the film together.
