Adnan Sami was granted citizenship of India at the start of this year on January 1 in Mumbai by the Minister of State for Home, Kiran Rajiju.
Today, for the first time ever, he celebrated Republic Day as an Indian citizen. Sami appeared happy and excited at the occasion. He Tweeted a picture of himself with an Indian flag in the background and posted a wish saying, 'Happy Republic Day!'
Adnan Sami celebrates being Indian Incidentally, the singer was born in London in 1973 on 15 August, the same day India celebrates its independence.
After studying in the European city, Sami grew up in Pakistan with his parents. He first came to India in 2001 and started his career in Indi pop music with the album 'Kabhi Toh Nazar Milao' and, later, in Bollywood.
Over the years, the singer- composer developed a special bond with India, so much so that he decided to settle down in the country. After trying for several years, Sami was finally granted Indian citizenship this year. Although a few political parties and groups have objected to it, Sami remains unfazed.
