In her childhood, Aditi Rao would often visit the desert state. As she tells us, during her stay in Rajasthan, she would also draw plans with her cousins to visit other popular areas like Udaipur, Jaipur, Sariska, etc. And it was during one of these trips that she got to see a tiger in real life, an experience which she can never forget. “It was really interesting.
I had gone to Sariska with my cousins and Valmik Thapar (a popular wildlife conservationist). during that trip I spotted a tiger. That was the most memorable trip of my life. I always tell Thapar that he made me see a tiger in real life for the first time,” Aditi chuckles. In addition to travelling extensively in Rajasthan, Aditi has also staged classical dance performances in Udaipur. “I was invited to perform in Udaipur in 2005 for a party,” she says.
Unlike other actors, who go to Ajmer Sharif to pray for the success of their movies, Aditi visits the dargah because she is “in love with the beauty of the dargah and Pushkar.” How about the food that is available in Rajasthan? “Nobody can deny the fact that the food in Rajasthan is luscious. Be it bajra khichdi or dal bati churma, I was in love with virtually everything I ate,” Aditi says, adding, “It isn’t only about the food, but the jewellry and the costumes which are easily available here are also impressive. I really want someone to invite me to attend a grand royal Rajput weddings.”
The actor, who will soon be seen in “London Paris New York”, told us that she will also be singing for the movie. “Ali Zafar heard me humming a song, and instantly said, ‘Arrey, you sing well’ and he offered me a song for the movie. My mother is a classical musician and she tells me that I sang before I began to speak. But when I turned 6, I told my mother that I even wanted to dance.”
Aditi, a dance enthusiast, was disappointed when she didn’t get to dance in a club in New York. She recalls, “After we completed our shoot in New York we decided to party. So on the last day of the shoot, we went to a club to unwind. But I wasn’t allowed to enter because the bouncers at the gate told us, ‘She is below 18 so she can’t enter’. Since I wasn’t carrying my ID card, we couldn’t party.”
