Aditi Rao Hydari is still ‘waiting’ for work after 'Heeramandi' success; Says,"Got love, but no..."

Versatile actress Aditi Rao Hydari received much love for her stunning performance in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's 'Heeramandi,' but the actress recently revealed that she is still waiting for work.

Aditi Rao Hydari has revealed that despite the immense praise she received for her performance in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s grand Netflix series 'Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar,' it hasn’t translated into new film or show offers. In a recent candid chat with YouTuber and host Lilly Singh, Aditi admitted she is still waiting to sign her next project.

Women’s Success Still Seen as the Exception

In the conversation, Aditi agreed to the fact that when women-led projects succeed, they’re still treated as anomalies in the industry.

“It is, yes. You are absolutely correct.” She elaborated that while 'Heeramandi' brought her a lot of appreciation, she hasn’t yet locked her next film or series. “I got so much love, so much appreciation… so much everything. Have I signed my next show or film? No. I haven’t. “I’m still waiting,” she said.

Hoping for Change, Not Expecting It

When asked if the success of Heeramandi would make it easier to create such large-scale, women-focused shows, Aditi said, “No, I don’t think so. I hope so.” She added that stories should reflect the equality women have in real life and that storytelling should move beyond gender biases.

What’s Next for Aditi?

Although new projects haven’t immediately come her way after 'Heeramandi,' Aditi will next be seen in Imtiaz Ali’s upcoming series 'O Saathi Re' opposite Avinash Tiwary.

'Heeramandi,' which premiered on May 1, 2024, and received decent reviews from the viewers, although it was not SJB's best. The series boasted a stellar cast including Manisha Koirala, Sonakshi Sinha, Richa Chadha, and Sanjeeda Sheikh alongside Aditi.
