Aditi Govitrikar on a failed marriage: It was one of the lowest points of my life
Actor Aditi Govitrikar married Muffazal Lakdawala in 1998 and ended their marriage of 11 years in 2009. The actress has been divorced for 13 years now. The couple had two children together, a daughter and a son, who were raised by Govitrikar.
As reported on IndianExpress.com, Aditi Govitrikar spoke about her divorce and said it was unfortunate and should not have happened. She stated that the failure of her marriage was one of the lowest points of her life. She likes winning. Since childhood, she has wanted to win: she wanted to be first in class, she wanted to win Fear Factor, and she wanted to win Bigg Boss. In that aspect, to have a partnership fall apart like that was difficult to digest.
Govitrikar expressed that she wishes someday they would sit across the table and sort out. "There are many unsaid things, so maybe someday they will... A closure will be good for both parties and for the kids. It’s been 13 years, but she can’t forget the past. It holds you back," she said.
The actress also talked about the difficulties she is facing raising their children and said it was very difficult. She comes from a very happy childhood. Her parents used to make decisions for them together. It may be as small as deciding whether kids should go on a trip; she had to decide everything alone and play both father and mother. There was also a feeling of guilt for leaving her children with her mother or sister for work.
