Aditi Govitrikar: India's first Mrs. World and the trials of her personal life
Aditi Govitrikar, a name that once ruled the modeling and entertainment industry in the 1990s, is a testament to beauty, intellect, and resilience. Hailing from Panvel, Maharashtra, she completed her MBBS degree before stepping into the glamour world. Her journey from a doctor to a supermodel and eventually winning the prestigious Mrs. World title in 2001, as India's first-ever recipient, showcases her multifaceted personality and determination.
While Aditi’s professional life glittered with success, her personal life was fraught with challenges. During her medical college days, she fell in love with her senior, Muffazal Lakdawala. Despite belonging to different religions and facing resistance from her parents, the couple married in 1998 under both civil and Muslim law. Aditi converted to Islam and adopted the name Sara Lakdawala. Their union was blessed with two children and appeared harmonious for several years.
Reflecting on her divorce, Aditi admitted the pain it caused her in an interview with Siddharth Kannan. “The worst moment of my life was when I could not save my marriage. I like to win... The breakup of the relationship was difficult for me to bear. I thought, How did this happen to me?" Her candid words reveal the emotional toll the separation took on her, a stark contrast to her composed public persona.
Despite her struggles, Aditi remains an inspiring figure. From breaking stereotypes as a "beauty with brains" to navigating the hardships of her personal life, she continues to inspire countless individuals.

Why the hue and cry about that? And as far as Hindu girl and Muslim Men getting married is concerned, this is too common a picture even in celebrity circles to not learn from them.Read allPost comment
