For someone who has lived on a river-island in Hampi for three-and-a-half years honing his acting skills, Adil Hussain had his home lockdown strategy on point. “Over the last two months I was busier than ever before,” laughs the actor. “We (referring to wife Kristen Jain) had someone who used to help us out from 8am to 4pm, but we had given her chhutti for the last 20 days.

So, besides taking care of domestic matters, we are trying to fulfill our 10-year-old son's demands all the time. We tried to do things like make pizzas and sauces at home. In fact, I have finally figured out a way to make a healthier version of pizza with from ragi and buckwheat flour. While Kristen was doing the washing and cleaning, I was in charge of the kitchen. I love cooking." Sure of his cooking skills, he says that you can get one of the best dosas in his house. "I don’t put up cooking videos as I like to post something more relevant,” adds the 'English Vinglish' actor.
'My home borders on the edge of the forest'
The lockdown also gave Adil time to reconnect with another hobby – he’s got a green thumb. “Before joining the film industry, I've have been a theatre person and lived on a river island for about three-and-a-half years. I used to do gardening, grow vegetables etc., on my own. It’s an amazing feeling to look after your own plants and how they respond to you. What adds to it is that my home borders on the edge of the forest. It’s an amazing space,” he says.
The actor, who's also been reading pending scripts over the last few weeks, was about to embark on a new film before the lockdown. “I was in Dhaka, all set to start shooting in eight days. It is a challenging as well as most expensive film that I've ever done in the lead. I hope to be able to get back to it," signs off Adil.
