Actor Vivek Gomber on 18 months of no work despite 'Court' oscar buzz

Between 2014 and 2015, 'Court,' directed by Chaitanya Tamhane, emerged as a cinematic gem, accumulating over 20 awards, including the prestigious National Award and India's official entry to the Oscars. Vivek Gomber, who played a pivotal role in the film, anticipated that its success would catapult him back into the limelight. However, to his dismay, the aftermath of 'Court's' acclaim left him grappling with an unexpected period of stagnation.Recalling the trying times, Vivek Gomber reveals that the 18-month hiatus prompted introspection, as he questioned whether he had made a mistake in some way. Despite the widespread recognition garnered by ‘Court,’ Vivek Gomber found himself facing a lack of opportunities, leading to feelings of frustration and doubt.

Reflecting on the industry's response to ‘Court's’ success, Vivek Gomber admits to feeling disillusioned by the perceived lack of interest from within the industry. He said, “It felt like everybody knew what was happening with Court but then sometimes you also think maybe it is a small circle, how many people really care,”
