Ahead of its release, 'Emergency' continues to hit headlines. The film, which is directed and co-produced by Kangana Ranaut, is gearing up for release on September 6. Ahead of its theatrical debut, actor Vishak Nair, who plays the role of Sanjay Gandhi in the movie, penned a note clarifying his part in 'Emergency'.
In a lenghty statement, he addressed the death threats he has been receiving due to misinformation about his role. "For the last few days, I have been receiving death threats, lewd messages and mentions from some people who wrongly believe that I have essayed the role of Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale in "Emergency". I would like to once again reiterate that I have played the role of SANJAY GANDHI in this film. Swipe right to find material supporting the same. I request the people in question to kindly check your facts before spreading hate and misinformation."
Previously, Kangana Ranaut had also addressed the threats that she has been fancing and revealed that 'Emergency' is yet to receive its certification from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). The actress had shared on X, "There are rumours doing the rounds that our film, Emergency, has been granted Censor certificate. This is not true. In fact, our film had been cleared but certification has been stopped because many threats were coming in. Death threats. The Censor Board members are getting threats. We are under pressure not to show the assassination of Indira Gandhi, not to show Bhindranwale, not to show the Punjab riots. I don’t know what will be left to show then… This is unbelievable for me and I am very sorry for the state of things in this country.”
