After much anticipation and hardships, Abhishek Kapoor directorial starring ‘Kedarnath’ Sara AliKhan and Sushant Singh Rajput has finally hit the screens today. Nervous and excited at the same time, Abhishek Kapoor reveals Lord Shiva to be the major inspiration behind the film.The director is a staunch devotee of Lord Shiva and is immensely influenced by the backdrop of Kedarnath floods. Having helmed films with social relevance like ‘Kai Po Che’ earlier, Abhishek Kapoor yet again highlights the social aspect of discrimination in ‘Kedarnath’. Revealing why ‘Kedarnath’ is important to him, Abhishek Kapoor said, "This film is important to me owing to its backdrop. ‘Kedarnath’ is based against the backdrop of the Uttarakhand floods and the film also deals with a very important issue that our country faces. The film focuses on the two aspects- class and caste that is prevailing in our nation. The discrimination which has been subsites since ages still exists in the society, ‘Kedarnath’ deals with the same."Being a believer of Shiva, Kedarnath holds an incredibly important place in Abhishek Kapoor's life. Talking about the same, the director said, "More than anything else, the film is about Shiv and I am a big believer of Shiv.
The simplest thing is if any man has the heart to do anything for mankind or another human being, there is Shiv in him, irrespective of the religion. If you are willing to serve another human then Shiv resides in you. Then when you say 'Har Har Mahadev, you say Har Har Mein hai Mahadev.'
