The Sandeep Reddy Vanga directorial Animal starring Ranbir Kapoor in the lead has left the audience divided. While some people are showering praises and appreciating the film, some people are calling out the movie for its toxic masculinity, misogyny and being brutally violent. Now, singer Abhijeet Sawant, who won the first season of singing reality show Indian Idol, has come out in support of the film.
Sharing his views on the film, Abhijeet said that he watched Animal and he really liked the film, which also stars Bobby Deol, Rashmika Mandanna, Anil Kapoor and Triptii Dimri among others. He then went on to address the criticism and how people are having multiple complaints with the film.
He feels that those who are opposing the treatment of the film might be right on their part but he also defended Animal saying that the story is not just about a father and son relationship and everyone is interpreting it incorrectly.
He further explained that the film's story is about a man who views the world completely differently. "To show his brutality, some unjustified things have been shown in the movie. The film itself starts from a tale about a monkey who resorts to his true nature in the end, and that's why he is an Animal," he added.
Abhijeet shared his views on Instagram and continued, "In a scene in the film, Ranbir is giving speech to workers in his factory named Swastika, it is almost similar to Hitler. Hitler stoop up to burn the world, but he never admitted his mistakes and justified his ill actions. He (Ranbir's character in Animal) also justified his wrongdoings. So understand the film differently and then, you will enjoy the film."
Meanwhile, Animal has crossed Rs 750 mark gross worldwide since its release on December 1. The pan-India film was released in five languages - Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam. It is produced by Bhushan Kumar and Krishan Kumar for T-Series, Murad Khetani for Cine1 Studios and Pranay Reddy Vanga for Bhadrakali Pictures.
