In an interview with Bollywood Bubble, talking about working on Karan Johar's 'My Name Is Khan', Aahana Kumra shared, "Mera naam nahi dala gaya tha, dalna chahiye tha—casting assistant (My name was not mentioned; they should have added it—casting assistant)." She added, "Nahi dala hum logon ne (We didn't add the name)."
The actress shared that she was "quite heartbroken" at that time since it was her first job. Kumra stated that her name was sent. She said, "I am not sure why, but waise kaise casting hoti hai badi films ki—'My Name Is Khan' (I am not sure why, but how the casting of a big film like 'My Name Is Khan' happens)."
The actress acknowledged that she had a great time casting that film and added, "Woh mera pehla experience tha casting mein (That was my first experience in the field of casting)."

Sidharth Malhotra were working as assistant directors. She shared that Jr Dhawan used to talk to the team a lot because he was an AD. She said, "I remember the first time I met Sidharth Malhotra and Ekta. I was in a room, and it was very intimidating."
She recalled that Karan Johar was a big deal for her at that time when she was just starting. The actress further clarified that the filmmaker is still a big thing for her. Elaborating further, she said that KJo asking her about which actor she liked for a particular role left her overwhelmed.
