Last year,
Aahana Kumra decided to venture into production after facing a lack of acting opportunities. “I haven’t received an offer in more than three years,” she was reported saying. Now she is turning her dream into reality. Together with her co-partner, casting director Apurva Singh Rathore, Aahana has launched a production company, Working Panda Films, and has begun shooting for her first project, which is a music video. Talking about what encouraged her to take this step, she says, “I didn’t want to settle for peanuts that were being offered to me by producers. Roles for women are limited, and within that, so many actresses are struggling to get that one job. If I fail, then I fail. It’s not a big deal. I will try something else then.”
Aahana shares, “As a producer, there’s a lot of responsibility, which you didn’t even know existed when you’re on the other side. I thought this is probably the right time to get out of my comfort zone. There are times when you have to make hard choices, so either you leave or stay in the game. I’m not a quitter. I’m someone who likes to stay in the game. I’ve always loved fame and the medium.”
