The makers of the 2016 laugh riot, Happy Bhag Jayegi, featuring
Diana Penty,
Abhay Deol,
Ali Fazal and Jimmy Sheirgill, are back with its sequel, Happy Phirr Bhag Jayegi (HPBJ), directed by
Mudassar Aziz. This time around, the film features
Sonakshi Sinha as the new Happy, and promises double the dose of ‘Happymess’.
While chaos and madness across the border is the crux of the franchise, in the new instalment, the action moves from Pakistan to a different country, as Happy is on the run again. Since the film features two ‘Happys’, one can imagine the level of confusion resulting from the identity crisis. The sequel with the tagline ‘Is Baar Do Hain’ promises to be bigger, better, messier and funnier than the original.
The trailer of the film was appreciated by the audience, who are intrigued by Sonakshi’s Punjabi look, Jimmy’s hilarious one-liners and the crazy chemistry between Ali Fazal, Jassie Gill and
Piyush Mishra. With an aim to spread happiness, the makers recently launched a 360-degree ‘Happy Ko Dhundo’ campaign in 50 cities across four states, and had the actors promoting the movie in specially created ‘happy vans’.
Sunil Lulla, Managing Director, Eros International, shares, “With the buzz that the campaign has generated, we hope the film also entertains the audience with double the madness and fun.” Aanand L Rai adds, “The intention is to always entertain the audience and make them happy through the medium of cinema. This movie is an extension of Happy Bhag Jayegi and I really hope the audience like it as much as they enjoyed watching the first part.”
Happy Phirr Bhag Jayegi, presented by Eros International and Colour Yellow Production, and produced by Aanand L Rai and Krishika Lulla, releases today.
