69th National Film Awards: Alia Bhatt, Kriti Sanon share Best Actress

The winners of the 69th National Film Awards were announced on Thursday. This year, Shoojit Sircar’s biographical historical drama Sardar Udham and Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s biographical drama Gangubai Kathiawadi won several awards.
Gangubai won the Best Screenplay (adapted), Best Dialogues award, best make-up artist. Sardar Udham won the Best Hindi Film, Best Cinematography, Best Audiography, Best Production Design and Best Costume Design awards. Alia Bhatt and Kriti Sanon have jointly won the National Film Award in the Best Actress category for their films Gangubai Kathiawadi and Mimi, respectively. Allu Arjun has won the award for Best Actor for his stellar performance in the movie Pushpa . Pankaj Tripathi won Best Supporting Actor while Pallavi Joshi won Best Supporting Actress Award.

Filmmaker Ketan Mehta headed the jury, which selected films in 28 categories in feature film category and 22 categories in non-feature film category and one for writing on cinema.
The jury members said that as 2021 was year of the pandemic hence the entries were also affected.
During the interaction with jury the Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting Anurag Thakur said “It was a very tough competition between all the films in every category. Today India is the largest film maker in the world. We have the potential to become the content hub of the world. This is our time. Today our films are being recognised all over the world, be it BAFTA or the Oscars.”
Best feature film award has been given to Rocketry: The Nambi Effect and the Best Non-Feature Film has been bagged by Ek Tha Gaon directed by Srishti Lakhera. The Kashmir Files has been awarded with Nargis Dutt Award for Best Feature Film on National Integration, while RRR has bagged the Award for Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment.
