2025’s Dhurandhar of the Rs 1000-cr club

Dhurandhar has joined a small group of Indian films that have surpassed the Rs 1,000-crore mark at the global box office. According to figures released on Friday, the Ranveer Singh-starrer has clocked a worldwide gross of over Rs 1,000 crore.

In recent years, films such as Pushpa 2 , RRR , Jawan and Kalki 2898AD have achieved this feat. In contrast to other Indian films that have earned ₹1,000 crore worldwide, Dhurandhar was a single-language, Hindi-only release rather than a multilingual one. Moreover, despite not being a much-anticipated sequel and having a runtime of three and a half hours, the film still crossed the ₹1,000-crore mark.


‘It was indeed rare, but exhibitors gave more shows to Dhurandhar over Avatar’

Veteran exhibitor Raj Bansal says, “ Dhurandhar was doing terrific business, and exhibitors chose to play more shows of Dhurandhar over Avatar: Fire and Ash . Usually, a film like Avatar gets more attention and more shows; but in this case, it was a rare decision. Exhibitors took this decision because of the record-breaking performance of Dhurandhar . Across the country, almost all the shows in single-screen cinemas were allotted to Dhurandhar . At present, the film’s growth is steady, and there is no competition until the Republic Day week release of Border 2 .”

Meanwhile, Kapil Sharma’s Kis Kis Ko Pyaar Karoon 2 , which had released in theatres on December 12 but was impacted by Dhurandhar sweeping the box-office numbers, will now re-release in January 2026, makers confirmed.

Crossing ₹1000 crore in 21 days is a first for any A-rated Indian film

Film business experts say that Dhurandhar, a movie with A certification, has rewritten the rules of what an A-rated Indian film can achieve at the box office because such films have restricted audiences and limited family viewing footfall. In recent years, A-rated titles like Animal have achieved huge success, however, crossing ₹1,000 crore in just 21 days is a first for an A-rated Indian film.

31 films make it to the 100-cr club in 2025

Even as Dhurandhar joined the ₹1000-crore club, 31 films became a part of the 100-crore club in 2025. Beginning with the period drama Chhaava collecting ₹717crore at the box office to a romantic film with newcomers – Saiyaara – clocking ₹399 crore, the year was indeed full of surprises.
