This year, 2018: Everyone is a Hero (Malayalam) has been selected as India’s official entry for the 2024 Oscars. An independent jury, set up by the Film Federation of India, and headed by filmmaker Girish Kasravalli, has selected this film for its universal theme of humans fighting natural calamities.
The film starring Tovino Thomas is written and directed by Jude Anthany Joseph.

This year, 22 films were in the contenders' list, including Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, Mrs. Chatterjee Vs. Norway, Gadar 2, and Zwigato.
TP Aggarwal, patron and former president, FFI says,"We have selected the film as it has a universal theme of humans facing natural calamities. It tells the story of seven heroes from different walks of life who helped people when severe floods devastated Kerala in 2018."
