I planned this ride to meet people and explore the biodiversity of India: Amit Sadh
Amit Sadh, who has embarked on a month-long bike journey from Mumbai to Leh, was in Ahmedabad recently for a brief halt. The versatile actor, who started his career with the popular TV show Kyun Hota Hai Pyarrr and has done films like Kai Po Che!, Sultan, Sarkar 3, Raag Desh, Gold, Guddu Rangeela and Shakuntala Devi, plus OTT shows like Breathe, Avrodh: The Siege Within and Jeet Ki Zid, says, “I planned this ride to meet people and explore the biodiversity of our country. I have a bike for every terrain and I even travel abroad for such bike trips.”
Amit’s route
Amit, who started his journey from Mumbai, will cover more than 7250 kms and over 20 locations. In Gujarat, he had halts at Balasinor and Ahmedabad, and his next destinations include Jodhpur, Jaipur, Delhi, Chandigarh, Sangla and Spiti.
Asked about his experience while riding from Balasinor to Ahmedabad, he shares, “I loved the entire stretch, but riding in Ahmedabad was difficult as people don’t seem to follow traffic rules here. I feel that everyone must wear helmets while driving bikes because otherwise, the consequences can be disastrous.”
Talking about the special bond he shares with Gujarat, he adds, “Gujarat is very special for me as my film journey (Kai Po Che!) started from here. I love Gujarati food, especially the thali. While we were shooting for Kai Po Che! in Mehsana, a family brought homemade food for us. Everyone would tease me, ‘Dekho, tumhare liye tiffin ke saath shaadi ka nyota na aa jaye!’ Thanks to Rajkummar Rao, I had pani puri for the first time in Ahmedabad. I think everyone knows by now that the way to my heart is through my stomach!”
- On his love for Gujarat
I started riding bikes at 18. My life has been very tough, but riding gives you the freedom to travel to new places. It introduces you to new people and teaches you a lot of things. For me, it is life. I was trained in California and I am planning to ride across North and South America for seven months next. No journey is difficult, be it in life or on the bike
-On his love for bike trips
I am a private person, but I am also a people person. Wherever I am today is because of the people around me and I feel lucky for all the love. I enjoy interacting with people and try to stay as genuine as possible. It’s a gift to be an actor because people want to meet me and speak to me. I want to enjoy life like a normal person, not like a celebrity. I want to stay connected to people
-On why he loves interacting with people
Sometimes I feel that for the rest of my life, I just want to meet people and hug them. I make my own decisions. Life is not the same every day, but we must pursue our passion whenever we get a chance. One must stay true to themselves. I believe in living in the moment and experiencing everything. By thinking that something is difficult, I don’t want to deprive myself from experiencing it
